A site that brings in bookings

Restaurant website design for your restaurant or café

Someone feels like going out to eat and looks for a restaurant nearby on their phone. They compare a few and look at the photos, the menu and whether they can book a table right away. On the website I make for your place, those three things come first.

HOW BOOKING WORKS
Atmosphere of a restaurant in the evening, guests at their tables

How many tables your site fills depends on two things

The number of bookings from your site depends on how many people find it, and on the share of them who then book a table or send a message. That second part is called conversion.

You need both. A guest who finds your place but first has to wait for a slow PDF of your menu will book with the next restaurant in the results instead. The design of your site works on the share that books, my Vizibly System on the number of guests who find your site.

Which guests book matters just as much, by the way. A well-kept site with a clear menu also attracts the table of six that stays the whole evening.

What determines your bookings

More conversion: a menu that opens fast and a booking button you do not have to hunt for.

Six things a guest looks for on your site

A guest compares a few places on their phone and picks one quickly. These six parts come standard in every restaurant site I build.

Your menu online, always up to date

A guest wants to see what is on the menu before they choose. A digital menu that opens fast on a phone, instead of a PDF that has to load first, keeps that guest on your site. Changing a price or swapping a dish is quick.

Book a table without calling

I put the booking button at the top, front and center, and connect it to the system you already use. That way a guest secures their table the moment they feel like going out.

Opening hours that are right everywhere

Hours that differ between your site and your Google profile cost you guests. I make sure they match everywhere, including separate patio hours and the holidays, so nobody arrives at a closed door.

Photos that show the atmosphere

From your interior, your dishes and your patio, a guest can see whether your place fits the evening they have in mind. Good photos show that faster than a paragraph of text.

Guest reviews on your site

Going out to eat costs an evening and a fair amount of money, so a guest wants to know up front that it will be good. Reviews from earlier guests next to your menu help anyone eating with you for the first time.

Found for restaurant plus your town

Many guests search for a restaurant or lunch spot plus the name of a town. I tune your site and your Google profile to exactly that search.

Before anything gets designed, I pin down with you what your place stands for and which guest you are aiming for. The atmosphere and the photos follow from that. A bistro for couples on a Friday night calls for different images and a different tone than a lunch spot that fills with families on Saturday.

I start with your story, then come your colors and your fonts, and only when that is set do I design the pages. That first step is called branding and is included in the price of the project.

Book a table in two taps

A guest decides on the couch in the evening to go out to eat, picks up their phone and wants to secure a table in two taps. That is why the booking button becomes the easiest button on your whole site.

If you work with Zenchef, TheFork, Guestplan, Eet.nu or DISH (booking systems used in the Dutch restaurant trade), your booking system has its own module for your website. The same goes for Formitable, Resengo and Couverts, which have since been absorbed into Zenchef or TheFork. I place that module straight into your site, in your visual identity: the guest stays on your page and the booking goes straight into your table plan. If you have nothing yet, I can add a booking module of your own, without a subscription and without a commission per booking.

That is how a guest secures their table while you are out on the floor.

A site of your own, separate from a hospitality platform

Many providers of restaurant sites put you on their own platform. You pay a fixed monthly fee on an annual contract, and if you stop paying, your site disappears. I build your site for a one-off fee, and after delivery it is yours, code and all. If you switch to another provider later, I hand everything over complete and tidy.

Whether you run a restaurant, a café, a bar or a hotel, you get a site that fits your place.

You can hand off maintenance from €50 a month, with the first month free. If you would rather keep it yourself, that works too.

What happens to your site after launch

Even when your site is live, a lot changes around your restaurant. Next month someone searches a little differently, a new place opens on your street, or a tourist asks an AI which restaurant nearby is good.

That is what my own Vizibly System is for. If you choose it, work goes into your site every month: the system measures what guests and search engines do on your site and finds out where your bookings slip away. Based on that I improve the site, and then the round starts again. That is called the loop, and in your dashboard you watch it live.

Guests search for a restaurant plus your town

Many guests start on Google and type something like restaurant plus the town: restaurant nearby, lunch spot in town, or a patio by the sea. If you are not among the first results and on the map with three businesses at the top of Google, those guests will not find you, however sharp your site is.

I set up your site for that search: a Google Business Profile that is correct, opening hours that are the same everywhere, reviews that count, and a structure with your town name in the right places. How that local findability works, you can read in a separate article. I am an SEO specialist from Zeeland, on the Dutch coast, myself. In patio season on the coast, tourists also search, right there on their phone, for a beach club or a lunch spot nearby.

Some of your guests now ask an AI like ChatGPT: where can I eat well nearby? That is why I build your site so AI tools can read it well too.

Two sites that show how I build

There is no restaurant among them yet. These two sites come from a different trade, but they have what your restaurant site gets too: a design of its own that opens fast on a phone, and one clear button for the visitor who is still hesitating.

What I take care of for your restaurant website

With many web agencies you write the copy yourself and pay for the design separately. For your restaurant site, your brand, the design, the copy, the imagery and the technology are all in the price as standard. Vizibly is me, so you deal with one person, even after launch.

  • Your brand

I start with who your clients are and why they choose you. From that follow your tone, your colors and your typefaces.

  • Tech and ownership

Your domain is in your name and you can always take the code with you. Once the build is paid, the site is yours.

  • Design

You get your own clean design that fits your brand, built to the accessibility guidelines.

  • Copy

You supply the facts, I write pages that match what your clients search for in Google.

  • Imagery

Photos of your work you supply yourself. If you do not have them yet, I start with professional AI imagery at no extra cost.

  • Findability

I build your site so that Google and AI tools can read it well. If you already have a site, I redirect your old addresses.

Also included

  • A contact form with a spam filter that works. At delivery I test it with a real submission, and you get that proof from me.
  • I set up Google Analytics and Search Console on accounts in your name, so you can see how people find your site and you always keep that measurement history.

After launch

You can leave hosting and maintenance to me for €50 a month, and that comes with your own dashboard. If your site goes down, I get an alert automatically. If anything does not work as agreed in the first thirty days, I fix it at no cost.

Optional extras

If you do not have a logo yet, I design that too. A second language or a system where you publish yourself can be added as well, and you hear the price up front.

Your restaurant site is live in eight steps

At three moments I show you where your site stands and ask for your sign-off, the first time before I build anything. Each moment comes with one round of adjustments. The booking button is in from the design preview on, at the top and in view, and on average your site is live 2 to 3 weeks after the kickoff call.

What a restaurant site costs

A website for your restaurant or café starts at €2,000, one-off. Three things decide where you end up: how many pages your place needs, whether you supply the copy and the photos or I write the copy, and what the site has to do, such as a booking connection or an online menu.

Frequently asked questions

A website for your restaurant or café starts at €2,000, one-off. That includes a design made for your own place, the booking button, your online menu, opening hours that are right everywhere and a structure that lets Google connect you to your town. What you pay exactly depends on the size and the functionality. You always get a proposal first. If you then want to be easier to find on an ongoing basis, my Vizibly System starts at €800 a month, and you can cancel month to month. See the pricing.

Mostly the size. A place with a menu and a booking button is done sooner than a hotel with room types and packages. If you already have good photos of your dishes and your interior, that helps too. And a booking connection or a takeout button takes more building than a page of text. You can read what else it depends on in my article on what a website costs.

Yes, as a button or as a link to the ordering platform you already work with. It gets the same prominent spot as the booking button, so a guest who wants takeout does not have to search. I do not build my own ordering and payment system into your site, and I do not promise a connection with a delivery platform: what is possible there is up to that platform. If you take takeout orders by phone or by email, that gets a clear place too.

I deliver the technical basics in order: fast loading, a clean structure, meta tags and a sitemap, plus a Google Business Profile that is correct and local findability, so Google can connect your place to your town. On that same structure, AI tools like ChatGPT can read your site well. Findability stays ongoing work after launch. If you want to keep track of it, my Vizibly System measures every month how your place is found in Google and in AI tools, and I improve your site based on that.

You get further with it than a few years ago. An AI builder quickly puts up a neat page with your opening hours and a contact form. What such a tool does not do is decide which guest you are aiming for and how your place comes across. And the booking button that hooks into your system does not appear by itself. I use AI all day and work fast because of it, but I review every page myself. In my article on building a website yourself with AI you can read what those tools do and do not solve.

Yes. I build a website for a hotel, a beach club, a café, a bar or a lunch spot the same way: your offering shown well, and booking or reserving in a few taps. For a hotel I connect room booking instead of table booking. If you are in another local trade, read how I approach a website for hair salons.
