Healthcare website design for patients
A healthcare website has two users: the patient who wants to get something arranged quickly, and the referrer or payer who wants to see that it all checks out. On a slow, unclear site, both drop off.
I build a site that loads fast and shows at a glance what you do, also for anyone who can’t see well or doesn’t use a mouse. Then both stay, and the patient who fits your practice signs up.

Two numbers decide how many sign-ups you get
How many patients you get from your website depends on how many people find your site and how many of them then take the step.
A site that loads slowly or looks messy pushes both numbers down. Loading speed counts toward your position in Google, and the visitor who does get in drops off at the first doubt. If you mainly want to be found by people in your own region, also read the piece on local SEO.
A calm, polished site attracts patients who fit your practice, and referrers who take you seriously.
What a hesitating patient looks for on your site
A visitor with a health problem wants to know whether you can help them. That goes for a physical therapist as much as for a dentist, a family doctor’s practice or a psychologist. If they don’t find that answer quickly, they look elsewhere. These five elements give it to them.
Signing up works right away, no scrolling
The button to book an appointment or sign up is in view straight away, on the phone too, where many people search. Anyone who wants to call sees the number at the very top.
Wait times and insurance coverage, right on the page
Can I be seen soon, and is it covered? People drop off on those two questions. Put the answer clearly on the page, and nobody has to call to find out.
Usable with shaky hands too
Your visitors are often older, partially sighted or not at their best. That is why the site gets large click targets, enough contrast and control with the keyboard or with screen reader software.
Show who does the treatment
Photos of you and your colleagues, with a few sentences about who you are, take the tension out before anyone walks into the waiting room.
Language the patient understands at once
“Myofascial release” means nothing to a patient. Explain in plain words what you do and for whom, and someone knows right away whether they have come to the right place.
How your site feels is a choice. A practice that mostly treats athletes comes across differently from a practice where people walk in feeling nervous. That is why, before I build anything, I first settle what your practice stands for and who you want to speak to. That branding is the first step of every project and is included in the price.
See for yourself what I built
Two sites I built for clients that are live. The first is a multilingual platform for physical therapists, built for the healthcare world itself. The second comes from a different trade, but I built it to the same standard: calm, fast and clear right away about what the company does. Click one to take a look.
This is what I take care of for your healthcare website
With many web agencies you write the copy yourself and pay for the design separately. I take care of it in one go: your brand, the design, the copy about your treatments, the imagery and the technology are included in the price. Vizibly is me, so you deal with one person, after launch too.
Your brand
I start with who your clients are and why they choose you. From that follow your tone, your colors and your typefaces.
Tech and ownership
Your domain is in your name and you can always take the code with you. Once the build is paid, the site is yours.
Design
You get your own clean design that fits your brand, built to the accessibility guidelines.
Copy
You supply the facts, I write pages that match what your clients search for in Google.
Imagery
Photos of your work you supply yourself. If you do not have them yet, I start with professional AI imagery at no extra cost.
Findability
I build your site so that Google and AI tools can read it well. If you already have a site, I redirect your old addresses.
Also included
- A contact form with a spam filter that works. At delivery I test it with a real submission, and you get that proof from me.
- I set up Google Analytics and Search Console on accounts in your name, so you can see how people find your site and you always keep that measurement history.
After launch
You can leave hosting and maintenance to me for €50 a month, and that comes with your own dashboard. If your site goes down, I get an alert automatically. If anything does not work as agreed in the first thirty days, I fix it at no cost.
Optional extras
If you do not have a logo yet, I design that too. A second language or a system where you publish yourself can be added as well, and you hear the price up front.
How I build your healthcare site, in eight steps
At three moments I show you where your site stands and ask for your sign-off, the first time before I build anything. Each moment comes with one round to adjust. The sign-up button and the accessibility are in from the design preview onward, and on average your site is live 2 to 3 weeks after the kickoff call.

Keep measuring after delivery
A site nobody works on anymore slowly falls behind: other practices improve their pages and patients start searching differently. That is why I deliver every healthcare site with Analytics and Search Console in your name, so from launch you can see how people find you and what they do on the site.
If you want to push on after that, I put my own Vizibly System to work. It measures what visitors and Google do on your site, and based on that I improve the site every month. You watch live in your dashboard. What that delivers for a practice, I describe on the page about SEO for healthcare.
The loop

My own projects
That same loop runs on my own sites, such as Koffienoob. The figures below come straight from Search Console.
An intake checker for people who’d rather not call right away
Not everyone dares to call right away. A short intake checker on your site answers the question that holds someone back: is this treatment right for my condition, and do I qualify? Whoever fills it in leaves their details at the end, without having to call first.
Whether an intake checker like that suits your practice depends on your patients and your offering. I look at that per site, and in the proposal you see up front whether it is in the price. If you only want the tool on your existing site, you get a fixed price for that up front as well.

In healthcare, everyone lands on your site
An online store sells mostly to people who find buying online easy. A healthcare practice can’t choose: the eighty-year-old with shaky hands signs up just as much as someone who can’t see well, someone who has trouble reading or the family caregiver who takes over for a moment. If each of them can do that without help, you get sign-ups you would otherwise have missed.
The European accessibility rules are also getting stricter and apply to more and more online services. If you build on them now, you won’t have to rebuild later. How the guidelines work is explained in WCAG 2.2 explained.
Those rules have also applied to businesses since June 28, 2025: the European Accessibility Act, with the ACM (the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets) as the regulator in the Netherlands. The ACM first looked at the biggest Dutch online stores, and the majority don’t meet the requirements. One of the common mistakes was a button you can’t operate with the keyboard, and that mistake can turn up in a sign-up form just as easily as in a shopping cart. What went wrong there and why is in my piece on the ACM investigation into web accessibility.
Accessible design is standard in every healthcare site, at no extra cost.
What a healthcare website costs
A healthcare website starts at €2,000 one-off. Three things move that amount: how big the site gets (treatment pages, team profiles, locations), whether you supply the copy or I write it, and which extra features come with it, such as a sign-up module.
A healthcare website
- Branding as the first step
- Own design, no template
- Very fast and technically ready for Google
- Sign-up and contact right in view
- Built to be accessible (WCAG 2.2)
- Delivered with tracking set up, Analytics and Search Console in your name
You get a no-obligation proposal, and after delivery the site is entirely yours.
