Empact DPP tool
The EU is making the Digital Product Passport mandatory step by step, for more and more product groups. For Empact, a consultancy firm, I built a free AI tool that shows how far along you already are: you upload your product documentation and see which DPP information you already have, and what's still missing.
THE IDEA
Why Empact had a free DPP tool built
Empact advises businesses on EU sustainability legislation. One of the big topics in that field is the Digital Product Passport: the digital ID card the EU is going to require for products such as textiles, furniture and batteries.
For Empact's clients, even the first step is hard: finding out which passport information they already have. That information is spread across product sheets, certificates and EPDs (environmental product declarations), and anyone who goes through it all by hand spends days on it.
The tool cuts that down to minutes, and the user pays nothing for it. For Empact, the value lies in what comes next: anyone who sees what's still missing knows right away what to call an advisor about.
THE APPROACH
How the tool works
A few questions first, then the upload
You first answer a few short questions about your product and your organization, then upload your product sheets, certificates and EPDs. You don't need an account, and the documents aren't stored.
Checked against more than 50 official DPP fields
The AI reads the documents and compares what's in them with the official DPP fields for your product category, such as textiles, furniture, batteries or building materials.
Report and sample DPP to download
You get a report with the fields that are already filled in and the fields that are still missing, plus a sample DPP as a PDF. The tool labels the result as guidance only: it isn't an official document.
Dutch and English
The tool works in Dutch and English, right down to the PDF reports and the error messages. One language button switches everything over.
