Weltechniek is a technical online store with a large product range. Of all those products, an electrical panel is the most daunting one to buy online. The configurator I built lets visitors put together their own electrical panel, even if they don't know exactly what they need.

THE IDEA
Why an electrical panel is hard to sell online
You don't buy an electrical panel (in the US, often called a breaker panel) the way you buy a lamp. How many circuits do you need, single-phase or three-phase, what kind of protection, and what does that EV charger or that set of solar panels mean for your home's electrical setup? Get it wrong, and you order a panel that doesn't fit.
In an online store, that's the moment a visitor leaves: as long as they're unsure whether the panel will fit, they won't click the order button.
The configurator is built to take that doubt away. You put your panel together as if an electrician were looking over your shoulder: every choice shows up right away in the drawing and the estimated price, and the check against the Dutch NEN standard flags anything that isn't right.
THE APPROACH
How the electrical panel configurator works
Two starting points
Build it yourself if you know what you want, or answer six short questions about your home if you'd like some help. Both routes lead to the same builder, so you can always fine-tune.
Live drawing and price estimate
Every circuit you add shows up right away in the drawing of your panel, with a parts list of real products from the online store and an estimated price that updates as you go, including or excluding VAT.
NEN standard check as you click
The tool checks your setup against the installation rules while you click. If there's something to watch out for, such as surge protection with solar panels or a charging point, you see it on screen right away.
Order or request a quote
If your setup matches a ready-made panel from the online store, you see it right away. If not, you request a quote with one click, and Weltechniek builds and wires the panel to your specification.
